About this circuit
A simple RC circuit that highlights capacitor charge behavior from a DC source through a resistor.
Circuit notes
RC Timing Capacitor Charge
Application
This circuit uses a capacitor as the timing element in a first-order RC charge circuit.
Schematic Organization
A 5 V source feeds a 1K charging resistor from the left. The featured 1u capacitor connects from the timing node to the bottom return, and voltage probes measure both the source and capacitor node.
Expected Behavior
The RC time constant is about 1 ms. Starting from 0 V, Vcap should rise toward the 5 V source over the 5 ms transient window.
Suggested Experiments
Change Capacitance from 1u to 2.2u or change RCHG from 1K to 2K and rerun the transient simulation. Compare the slower Vcap rise to the time constant calculation.
Featured Component
The featured component exposes capacitance and initial voltage so the same schematic can be used for startup and timing experiments.
