How bjt switch works

V1 powers the load R1. V2 drives the base through R2. Compare the required load current with available base current; a forced beta of 10 or less is a conservative first check for saturation, then verify a real transistor’s data sheet.

IB≈V2−0.7 VR2I_B\approx\frac{V_2-0.7\,\mathrm V}{R_2}

On-state estimates use VBE = 0.7 V, VCE(sat) = 0.2 V and nominal transistor β = 100. The schematic is a DC on-state example, not a switching-time or safe-operating-area model.

Change the form inputs or click a component value on the schematic. Choose Try in CircuitSim to simulate the configured circuit.
