Parallel capacitors share the same voltage. The 1 V AC source demonstrates the total charging current.

How parallel capacitance works

Parallel capacitors have the same voltage across them. Each stores charge in proportion to its capacitance, so their capacitances add directly. Adding a capacitor increases the total capacitance.

CT=C1+C2+⋯+CnC_T = C_1 + C_2 + \cdots + C_n

Choose two to four capacitors. The 1 V AC source demonstrates current sharing at 1 kHz: the larger capacitor carries more current. These ideal calculations exclude ESR, leakage and voltage-rating limits.
